Things to do in Philadelphia

  • Walk along Penn’s Landing, the Delaware River waterfront with stunning views of the Benjamin Franklin Bridge. Check out Liberty Point for drinks and snacks, lounge in the hammocks over the water, or engage in any activities that are happening in the area.

  • Free to the public to walk through (if you wish to wait in line) or walk around the building and view from the outside. Walk around the Independence National Historical Park, the area where the country’s beginnings were being formalized. This a UNESCO World Heritage site where both the Declaration of Independence and US Constitution were debated and signed.

  • Great architecture all around, so many different types of art to view, and if you have time, you can walk along the Wissahickon River for a nice stroll. Your ticket here also gives you access to the Rodin Museum

    Other Museums around:

Franklin Institute, The Mütter Museum, Please Touch Museum, National Constitution Center, Museum of the American Revolution, The African American Museum, Barnes Foundation, The Academy of Natural Sciences of Drexel University

  • Run up the iconic Rocky steps if you dare and take a photo at the top to commemorate your achievement. These are located at the Philadelphia Museum of Art

  • One of the first prisons in the country that other prison systems were modeled after around the world. A cool tour to take if you like history, political science, and architecture. Suspected by some to be haunted and extra cool if you like Al Capone, who was held here. Afterwards, check out Fairmount Flavors for a Philly staple, Water Ice (like Italian Ice).

  • This is the nation’s oldest continuously operating open-air market, dating back to the 1880s. We love walking around, looking at the different shops, trying cheeses at Di Bruno Bros. Bakery, and grabbing a Cheesesteak (with Cooper Sharp cheese) from Angelo’s.

  • Famous indoor farmer’s market with multiple food, restaurant, pastry, grocery, meet, coffee, ice cream, and goods stands. It can be a little overwhelming when busy.

Angelo’s satellite location, Uncle Gus’s, is a second best if you don’t make it down to the Italian Market.

  • Walk through Chinatown and see their Friendship Gate (the first authentic Chinese gate built in America by technicians from China in a traditional Qing Dynasty-style design). Stop and get bubble tea, dimsum, ramen, Bonchon (Korean fried chicken), dessert at Paris Baugette or A La Mousse, or get some Asian snacks at S Mart or You & Me.

  • Wall around and through City Hall. See the architecture and sculptures placed all around and inside the building.

  • Sampan, Vernick Fish, El Vez, Via Locusta, Continental Midtown, Bar Bonbon (Vegan), Oyster House, Con Murphy’s Irish Pub, Mawn, Tabachoy, Two Robber’s, LMNO, El Chingon, Malai

  • Reading Terminal Market

  • Liberty Bell

  • Philadelphia Museum of Art

  • City Hall
